Matthew Blackmore   As Assistant Principal, I would like to wish all of our Ankeny High School students and staff the best of luck for the 2009-2010 school year. I'm extremely excited to join the "Hawks" as an instructional leader, and student supporter. It is my goal to use my experiences as a large school administrator to help AHS transition into thier new home at Praire Trail in 2011. I look forward to help creating great memories with our students and staff!
I come to Ankeny from Lockport, Illinois (Southwest Suburb of Chicago). I completed my Bachelors degree in Special Education (2001), and Masters degree (2003) in School Administration at Lewis University, in Romeoville, Il.
My past experiences include teaching special education from 2001-2005 at my alma mater Lockport Township High School. As a "Porter" I was a Football coach for the 2002 & 2003 State Champs, as well as the Special Olympics coach. In 2005, I helped open Plainfield North High School (Plainfield, Il) as Dean of Students. From 2006-2009 I was Assistant Principal at Plainfield High School-Central Campus and Plainfield North High School (Plainfield, Il).
My hobbies include: reading about U.S. History, education, football, and John Grisham novels. My iPod plays host to wide range of music including rock, metal, rap, classic rock, and alternative. I enjoying coaching youth sports and spending time with my family.
This is an exciting time it is to be part of the Ankeny Community School District as we continue to develop into a "World-Class" school system.
